Saint Paul, MN – Rock the Cause, a Twin Cities-based non-profit that builds communities through the power of music, is pleased to announce Rock for Socks II! Last year’s inaugural concert event was attended by over 300 independent music fans who braved the ice and extreme cold, to generate over 1000 pairs of warm socks for homeless families in Minnesota.

Event organizers and indie rockers Pictures of Then have partnered with Rock the Cause to ensure that over 100 homeless families served by People Serving People at their downtown Minneapolis shelter have warm, new socks. People Serving People reports that in one day they have given out 1200 pairs of socks to homeless families.

Building off of last year’s success, this year’s event will take place on February 17, 2012 at Amsterdam Bar and Hall in downtown Saint Paul and features an incredible lineup - Pictures of Then, The Envy Corps, Apollo Cobra and Pretty Good Dance Moves. Fans are asked to bring a pair or package of new socks to receive a melted down admission of $5 and a chance to win some cool prizes! Admission is set at $12 for those who do not bring socks.

Rock the Cause combines great music with great work – and People Serving People is proud to be a part of something so innovative. What could be cooler than a movement of young people of all ages directly helping homeless kids? Rock the Cause and its concert-goers will provide very basic needs, like socks and warm clothes to homeless children and families at our shelter. - People Serving People’s CEO Daniel Gumnit.
